North Northumberland Hunt Pony Club’s annual Easter Show on Saturday 30 March 2024 at The Glendale Showfield. A fun, friendly show open to pony club and non-pony club competitors age 16 and under. Come and join us for a fun, friendly day with something for all ages, abilities and ponies! E

To be judged on manners and suitability for Pony Club activities. Combination will be required to do an individual show, no jumping. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, in each class to qualify for the Final to be held at The Glendale Show on Monday 26 August 2024 at The Showfield, North Middleton, Wooler. NE71 6QX.
No leading reins please, to be judged as a show class with no jumping.
Class A: Best Riding/Pony Club type pony. 4 years or over, not exceeding 14.2 hh (147 cm), rider any age
Class B: Best Riding/Pony Club type horse. 4 years or over, exceeding 14.2 hh (147 cm), rider any age.
Dress: Tweed jacket, shirt, tie, beige breeches/jodhpurs, brown/fawn/neutral gloves, long black boots or jodhpur boots (depending on age of competitor), a riding hat conforming to the standards dictated by British Riding Clubs or the Pony Club. Hair should be secured neatly.
Horse Tack and Turnout:
Plain tack and accessories are encouraged. Horses and ponies in these classes are plaited with the exception of hogged cobs and natives/traditionals who are shown in their native state with untrimmed manes and legs.

Open to Pony Club and non-Pony Club competitors aged 16 and under. 
Age as at 1 January 2024

 

* Show Jumping: To run Novice first then Open in 60 cm and upwards.

 

** Handy Pony: To run in open order from 11:00 am but scored in three classes: A – Lead Rein and Assisted, B – 11 and under, and C – 15 and under.   Finishes at 12.30pm.

 

Clear Round Show Jumping:  Entries on the field.  Pay as You Go £3.00 per round, two rounds for £5.00.  Starting at 40 cm from 9:00 am increasing through the day.

 

Horse and Hound:  Entries on the field. £4 per pair. In pairs, one jumps the course on horseback then the other jumps it on foot with a dog on a lead.  Fastest time wins. Over the Working Hunter jumps at end of Working Hunter approx. start time 12.30pm.

Competitors may only ride two horses/ponies.

If a horse is to be shared in any class, the 2nd rider must go HC.

 

Directions: The Showfield is situated two miles south of Wooler on the A697.  Car Parking is signposted from the A697 from both North and South.

General Rules

 

§  Classes will start at 9:30am. Please check the Secretary’s caravan for any alterations to running times.

§  Pony Club Age is rider’s age as at 1st January 2024.

§  A horse or pony may only compete in a maximum of two different heights (or two rounds) in Show Jumping classes and one height (or one round) for Working Hunter.

§  Correctly fitting hats to Pony Club current standard and tagged accordingly must be worn when mounted. No Fixed peaks for Mounted Games or Jumping classes.

§  Body Protectors are recommended for jumping classes.

§  Rosettes will be awarded 1st to 6th except in games when 1st to 4th will apply.

§  A vet will be on call but the cost of any call out or treatment is the competitors’ responsibility.

§  Vehicles are parked at own risk.

§  DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON LEADS AT ALL TIMES.

§  No Horse or Pony to be left unattended whilst tied to horse boxes or trailers.

§  Cancellation at organiser’s discretion.  If the show runs, no refunds given.  No refunds after closing date.

§  Equine Flu: 

Horses and ponies must have been vaccinated to comply with the requirements of the primary course (1st vaccination and then 2nd vaccination between 21 – 92 days later), followed by the first booster (150 – 215 days) and all subsequent boosters. Horses may compete having received the primary course and prior to the first booster but not within 7 days of receiving a vaccine dose. 

Foals should be vaccinated for Equine Influenza at 6 months to commence their primary course. 

We urge all owners to adhere to strict biosecurity protocols at all times. 

Random checks will be carried out on the showground during the show.
