About this Event

We look forward to welcoming you to The Hannah Francis One Day Event, which we are delighted to be running again for the seventh time.

This event is held in recognition of Hannah’s courage, determination and inspiration in her battle with bone cancer, to celebrate her love of horses and eventing in particular.

Profits from the event will be donated to Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony Charity to help with its wonderful work. Registered Charity 1166416

This event is a Qualifier for the Horse-Events National Unaffiliated SEG & Young Horse Eventing Championships 2024 at 80cm 90cm & 100cm

Refund, Withdrawals & Entry Changes

Withdrawal Date: 02/07/2024


No Refunds after the withdrawal date for whatever reason. Before this date full refunds to be given. After close of entries, if your place can be filled, via the Entries Secretary, entry fee will be refunded, less £14 administration fee.   No refund if place cannot be filled except on receipt of a veterinary or doctor’s certificate which must be presented prior to the day of competition in which case full refund minus £14 administration fee.

In the unfortunate situation of the event having to cancel all entries will be refunded per class minus an admin fee of £18 (Booking fees are non refundable)

After the closing date please contact the event Secretary to make any changes

Please do read these. • Open to all – no restrictions on horses with BE points. • Minimum age of horse in the 70cm, 80cm and 90cm classes: 4 years • Minimum age of horse in the 100cm: 5 years Age to be calculated from 1st January in the year in which it was foaled. • Doctor, Paramedics, Ambulances, Vet, Farrier and Horse Ambulance on Site • Variety of catering outlets serving hot and cold food    Minimum age of competitors in the 80cm, 90cm and 100cm classes:  10 years (as at 1st January 2024).

Order of classes Please note Classes may run in any order i.e. Class 1 will not necessarily be first. The order in which classes will run will be published online after close of entries. In the past the 80cm class has been the first class to run, followed by the 90cm, then the 100cm and 70cm.   Course Inspection From 2 pm on Saturday 13 July 2024 Professional Event Riders will conduct course walks on the afternoon of Saturday 13 July 2024. Info will be posted on the facebook page.   Numbers Riders will need to bring their own number bib. You will need to print A4 landscape copies of your rider number to go in the bib. It will be possible to download and print these from the eventing scores website https://www.eventingscores.co.uk/

Vaccination Policy

All horses/ponies should have received a vaccination within 12 months of the date of the competition having already received their initial course of injections. There must be 7 clear days between the last vaccination and the date of the competition. Random checks will be taking place

Equipment

It is compulsory that ALL riders wear hats/helmets at all times when mounted, with the chin strap done up. Hats that have not already been tagged with the pink British Eventing, Pony Club, Riding Club or Horse Events tag must be checked and tagged before starting the competition. The current hat standard requirements are available on the schedule:   From 2024 onwards, the Level 3 blue BETA 2018 standard will be required. This means the purple BETA 2009 safety certification will no longer be permitted. All riders must wear a BETA approved Level 3 body protector with the year 2018 shown on the label manufactured in the year 2018 or after for the XC phase and whenever else a body protector is worn. If a competitor chooses to wear an air jacket it must be worn over a permitted body protector for the XC phase. Air jackets may be worn for the SJ or dressage phases without a body protector. Stopwatches Event stopwatches are permitted. Whips Whips may not be carried in the dressage phase. Only one whip, no longer than 120cms, may be carried when riding in. Whips for jumping phases are on a par with British Showjumping standards i.e. • The maximum length of the “Whip” is 70cm and must be no less than 45cm. • The overall weight of the whip maximum of 160g evenly distributed. • Minimum diameter of the shaft is 1cm • The “Contact area”, is considered to be two fifths of the overall length of the “Whip” and must be covered with a “Pad”. • There must be no “binding” within 17 centimetres of the end of the “Pad”. • The “Pad” must be smooth, with no protrusion or raised surface, and be made of shock absorbing material throughout its circumference such that it gives a compression factor of at least 6mm

This event is a Qualifier for the Horse Events National Unaffiliated SEG & Young Horse Eventing Championships 2024 Incorporating: * Amateur ONLY classes – Riders must meet eligibility criteria to ensure a true amateur class * Open class for young horses – open to all levels of rider with horse 4, 5 or 6 years in their 1st or 2nd year of eventing. * Schools Equestrian Games Eventing Championships – the Prestigious Schools Eventing series to find the Schools eventing champions. Except for the negligence of the Organiser and his agents or others for whom in law he is responsible, the Organiser and/or Venue owner do not accept responsibility in respect of any accident, illness or disease caused to or suffered by any horse, owner, rider, spectator, sponsor and others present at the site of the event and their property and accoutrements.

Riding horses is a high-risk sport and riders taking part in this event acknowledge this and do so at their own risk. The event site owner nor organiser does not insure the rider, your horse, your tack or your equipment. You are strongly advised to have in place your own adequate insurance at all times.

 

Health and Safety

The organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must comply with any instructions given by the Organiser, Officials and Stewards.

Reservation of Right

The Organiser has the right to:

• Cancel any class or event

• Divide any class

• Transfer competitors between sections of a class

• Alter the advertised times

• Refuse any entry

We hope you will enjoy the Event and for the safety and convenience of competitors ask that you follow a few simple rules:

• Give way to horses at all times

• Dogs to be kept on short leads at all times. Please clear up after your dogs.

• It is recommended all competitors hold their own personal liability insurance

• Stand well clear from cross country fences and the approach to them, observe the fence judge at each fence and listen for the judge’s whistle as each horse approaches

• Keep your children under strict control

• Competitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult

• Please use the litter bins provided and do not muck out horseboxes on site

• All-Terrain Vehicles/Motorcycles are not permitted
