The following classes are available for the Belsay International YOUNG HORSE PERFORMANCE CLASSES & ARENA EVENTING

Class 1: 70cm Arena Eventing
Fences not exceeding 70cm Speed SJ 325 mpm XC 350mpm
Class 2a: 80cm Arena Eventing
Fences not exceeding 80cm Speed SJ 325 mpm XC 350mpm
Class 2: 80cm Young Horse Performance Class for four year olds
Freestyle Dressage test in the arena of no more than 2 mins 30 seconds prior to the jumping phase. SJ Fences not exceeding 80cm (some XC fences may be smaller) Speed SJ 325 mpm XC 350mpm

Young Horse Performance Classes & Judging

Young Horse Performance Classes Rules

The two Young Horse Performance Classes are unaffiliated but are designed to help prepare young 4 and 5 year old horses for future competition.

Each horse will be required to show a series of movements in a freestyle dressage test, lasting no more than 2 mins 30 seconds prior to the jumping phase. This should include medium walk, working trot on left and right rein, some lengthened strides at trot, working canter on left and right rein (incorporating a 20m circle), and a halt. Competitors should then proceed direct to the jumping phase.

After jumping please show a gallop and then leave the arena at free walk on a long rein.

The jumping test will consist of 7-8 show jumps including related distances, followed immediately by 7-8 cross country fences. 2 penalties will be deducted for a fence down and 4 penalties for a refusal.

Elimination after three refusals, accumulated or otherwise and/or a fall.

Fence Heights:

Class 2: 80 cm for 4 year olds;

Class 3: 90cm for 5 year olds

Judging:

Judged out of 50, marks will be given as follows:

20 – Paces (5 – walk, 5 – trot, 5 – canter, 5 – gallop) 10 – Show Jumping 10 – Cross Country 10 – Suitability

Arena Eventing Rules

Four faults for a show jump knocked down, four faults for a refusal. Elimination after three refusals at a show jump.

Twenty penalties for a refusal at a XC jump. Elimination after three refusals, accumulated or otherwise and/or a fall.

Withdrawals & Refunds

Withdrawals:  Refunds by close of entry 27th May. After this date only if entry replaced.

Refunds issued less booking fee

In the event of cancellation, you entry will be refunded, less booking fee and £10 per entry admin fee.

General Details

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Competitors enter and compete at their own risk. Body protectors are advisable. Horses may be entered in 2 classes.

NO FIXED PEAK HATS PERMITTED. Show jumping dress (Jacket) or XC colours may be worn.

Please bring your own number bib. You must provide your own printed Numbers – download available from Horse-events.

Your Responsibility

All persons attending the event must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must obey instructions given by the Organiser or by officials and stewards on its behalf.

General information

Directions – Please follow signs to enter Belsay International Horse Trials via the main drive way to Belsay Hall Castle and Gardens. Parking is in the field to the right of the showground. You will be shown where to park.

Please ensure that you do not muck out your horsebox onto the Car Park. Take all litter home with you.

All dogs must be kept on leads at all times. Any dog mess must be cleared up. Outside assistance will not be tolerated- and could result in elimination.

In the event of cancellation, you entry will be refunded on receipt of a sae, less £5 per entry admin fee.

This event is being organised by Belsay Horse Trials . Equine Bookings is acting as the booking agent for this event, enabling you to book online, for which you will be charged a booking fee per space which will be added to your cart.
