Area 9 Pony Club Race Day

Novice – for riders who have not won a Pony Club or a Pony Racing Authority race before, or taken part in the PRA Racecourse Series, who must be on a pony who has not won an Open Pony Club, PRA Point-to- Point Pony or PRA Racecourse Series race in the last 2 years with another jockey. No minimum weight.

Intermediate – for riders who may have won a Novice race before but not won an Intermediate or an Open Pony Club or Pony Racing Authority Point-to-Point Pony or Racecourse Series race before. No restrictions on ponies. No minimum weight.

Open – riders to carry a minimum weight as stated in the race detail. No restrictions on ponies.


Doctors, Vets and Paramedics in attendance.



The day will run under Pony Club Pony Racing Rules  and only go ahead if we are able to fully comply with Government Covid-19, Pony Club AND BHA Guidelines.

There will be protocols and requirements to follow which will be communicated via email to all those entered and attending. All instructions MUST be adhered to and failure to comply will result in non participation. Instructions may change at very short notice.

Race 4 – The Calmsden Farms 128cms and under Novice Race
Distance 6 furlongs approx
Race 5 – The Calmsden Farms 128cms and under Intermediate Race

Race 7 - The Tom Symonds Racing 138cms and under Novice Race

The entry fee for each rider/pony combination is £31

All entries are subject to a non-refundable booking fee which will be stated online on a per class basis

Entry Rules:

To take part, children must be Pony Club members and aged 9 or above on the 1st January 2021.

Riders can race up until and on the day of their 17th birthday. Member and pony combinations must be still eligible to compete in the race they have entered by close of entries (Friday 16th April 2021). The parent/guardian making the entry must notify the organisers by email to: if they need to change races no later than the day entries close (Friday 16th April). If in doubt, please enter ‘up’ a grade. Entries shall close at the time advertised or when races are full.

Failure to submit changes before the specified date will result in the entry being declined.


Only entries received via the Official Entry method will be accepted. Any entry which is received without the entry fee will be declined.

Entry to Cheltenham Racecourse on the day is free but may be limited to comply with any Covid-19 Regulation at the time.

The 1st Class Images Team kindly support the Area 9 PC Pony Racing at Cheltenham Racecourse by providing a free photo to the winner of each race. Specialist equine photographers supplying quality prints for all competitors on the day and through their website

Photographic Rights – competitors and their guardians hereby give permission for any photographic, film or TV footage taken of persons or ponies taking part in Pony Races to be used and published in any media whatsoever for editorial purposes, press information or advertising by or on behalf of the organisers. Competitors and their guardians consent to the organizers providing information that they may think will be of benefit. This may be done by post, by fax, by e-mail or via websites and social media.

RULES are available to download or purchase from The Pony Club. Full terms and conditions are available to view on the entry form at It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian making the entry to ensure that they are compliant. Should a breach of eligibility be proven, the offender will be disqualified. The Judges’ decision is final.

PLEASE NOTE, entries will only be pending until you have provided copies of your pony’s passport AND your Pony Club District Commissioner or Centre Proprietor have confirmed that the entered pony and jockey combination are qualified to run. A letter from the District Commissioner / Centre Proprietor will also be accepted must must arrive in time.

The combination of pony and rider should have participated in a minimum of 2 ridden rallies or a minimum of 1 (passed) PRA/PC Training Day since 1st July 2020. For 2021 only, a District Commissioner or Centre Proprietor may also waive the requirement for any member, who in their opinion has demonstrated an interest in and a commitment to the Branch or Centre, but who has had insufficient opportunity to satisfy the requirements of this rule because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The organisers will email you to confirm the approved entry. Passport copies can be posted to: The Raceday Secretary, Middle Green Farm, Baulking, Oxfordshire, SN7 7QE but email preferred.

Change of rider not allowed. New entry to be made instead.

All  entries whether online or postal are subject to a non refundable booking fee of £1.85 per class paid to the booking agent, Horse Events.

Withdrawals made prior to the closing date for entries will be refunded minus an additional £5 administration charge.

Withdrawals after the closing date will not be refunded except on production of a vet certificate or medical certificate. An administration charge of £5 will then apply plus the booking fee.

If entries are not approved, entry fees will be refunded but not the booking and £5 administration fee.

In the event of abandonment, for whatever reason, or a participant being unable to take part due to Covid Regulations, the Committee reserve the right to retain 50% of the entry fee. In such an instance, the refund process will be communicated and must be followed.

The organisers of the event reserve the right to cancel the event or any race, to alter the advertised times, to divide or combine any race and to refuse entry with or without stating a reason.

This event is being organised by Area 9 Pony Racing. Equine Bookings is acting as the booking agent for this event, enabling you to book online, for which you will be charged a booking fee per space which will be added to your cart.

As booking agents, we accept no responsibility for the actual provision of any event for which you purchase event tickets for. Our responsibilities are limited to providing the online platform to enable you to purchase tickets. The booking fee is the separate non-refundable charge we make to you for facilitating the booking. Your contract is held with the Promoter/event organiser.

We only share your data with that of the third party organiser of the specific event you entered. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. The Organisers of the events published on the Horse Events website have all agreed to the following statement before we published the event and give them access to your data for the purpose of entering their event.
