This event has been cancelled

Unfortunately due to the continued wet weather that we have been experiencing it has been decided that we are going to have to cancel this years BCC pleasure drive at Grimsthorpe Castle on Sunday May 28th. The ground continues to be waterlogged in many areas and some of the tracks are no longer safe to use.

This has been a difficult decision to make but we feel that it is for the safety of horses and drivers.

We will be offering a refund for your entry fee, we would be very grateful if you would consider a donation to our charity which supports the four local churches in the Parish.

If you would like a refund please email your bank details to bccridesecretary@gmai.com and we will get that arranged in the coming week.

We do hope that you will be able to join us next year,

With very best wishes

The BCC Ride and Drive Committee.

BCC Pleasure Drive is being organised by Laura Holness and the booking agent is Equine Bookings

Additional Details

This event offers a unique opportunity for drivers to enjoy a day’s riding in one of the most beautiful parkland settings which is totally free from traffic. Organised by the parishioners of the four local churches, the drive includes a choice of routes of up to approximately 20 miles taking you through the grounds of Grimsthorpe Castle – located near Bourne in Lincolnshire. The event is held by the end permissions of the Grimsthorpe and Drummond Castle Trust Ltd. All the drive routes are within the grounds – entirely off public roads – with tranquil parkland tracks, woods and views of the lake and castle. It is well marshalled, clearly signposted and supported by a local ambulance service to assist with any incidents, and have been drawn up with the help of the estate manager. There is ample space for horse boxes of all sizes in the Gymkhana field where all the routes start and finish and a BBQ serving hot food and drinks and an opportunity to test your skills with our Cones Course!

A refreshment stop and toilet is located mid way along the drive routes, with the opportunity for a picnic along the way. All we ask is for you to take your litter home with you and respect the park and its wildlife. Homemade cakes baked by the local parishioners provide a welcomed treat for drivers!
