SOUTH POOL PONY CLUB SUMMER CAMP SUNDAY 4TH TO TUESDAY 6TH AUGUST 2024 @ STOCKLAND LOVELL Following the success of the last few years’ summer camps, we are delighted to offer you the chance to attend another exciting South Pool Pony Club Camp at the ever popular STOCKLAND LOVELL from Sunday 4th to Tuesday 6th August 2024. Stockland Lovell is a 700 acre estate which has been in the Hill family since 1907 set in beautiful countryside. There is an excellent cross country course running over 75 acres with a variety of fences, both portable and permanent including two water complexes, banks, a sunken road, three sets of steps and various ditch combinations with a range of fences up to BE Novice. The cross country is complemented by fences from 60cms, so there is something for everyone. There are two all weather arenas, one 60 x 50m show jumping arena with a full set of Jump4Joy fences and an adjoining 50 x 50m dressage arena. There are also marked routes for hacking across the farm and neighbouring land. This facility will offer us the use of the following: Riding Facilities • Over 1.5 miles of cross country including two schooling areas, two water complexes, ditches, steps and numerous obstacles. Fences ranging from 60cm to 1.10m. • Show jumping all weather arena • Dressage all weather arena • Full set of Jump4Joy show jumps • 46 stables Rider Accommodation Facilities • 7 Nordic style wood cabins with verandas • 2 converted two-storey barns • Separate clean and well fitted gents and ladies toilets and showers • Large converted barn providing spacious dining room with full kitchen facilities and a separate TV/Recreation area • On site catering providing all freshly prepared meals • Drying Room • Saddlery shop Stabling Accommodation Facilities • American style barn stabling for up to 46 horses • Lock-up tack room • Hay, haylage and shavings bedding included in the cost • Wash down area Camp will be full of fun and learning and involve a programme of both mounted and unmounted instruction together with some fun activities and demonstrations. Arrival will be during the afternoon of Sunday 4th August with an introductory ridden session. You will then have 2 riding sessions per day on Monday and Tuesday which will include cross country, show jumping, flatwork/dressage and stable management sessions. During Camp you will be put into teams of varying ages and abilities so you can all learn from each other, make new friends and most of all have loads of fun! Throughout your stay the teams will earn points for various tasks and duties. These include tack and turnout, stable management, yard duties and for just being lovely, happy and helpful! The riding groups are organised according to age and similar abilities and friendship groups will also be taken into account. All groups will be able to use all the riding facilities and all ponies will be stabled for the duration of camp as there is no turn-out. Members aged 8 years and over are welcome to attend Camp. However, all members should feel comfortable jumping a minimum of 60cms and riding unaccompanied in open spaces. It is important that all should feel confident enough to be away from their parents for 48 hours and to sleep overnight away from home. Please contact me (07891 217537) if your child is under 8 years of age or doesn’t feel comfortable staying overnight and we can discuss the options of attending on a daily basis – the pony can be stabled and stay overnight. Due to safeguarding we are, however, unable to allow adults/parents/carers to remain on site. Horse lorries/trailers may be left at Stockland Lovell for the duration of Camp. • Based on the extensive riding opportunities and domestic facilities provided at Stockland Lovell including the Cabins and barns so no transporting and pitching of tents!! plus the inclusion of delicious home cooked food, stabling and all hay/haylage and bedding we are offering camp at a special 2024 subsidised price of £295 per member . • Booking will be available via Horse Events. In order to hold the booking with Stockland Lovell, a non refundable deposit of £100 and the completed application and medical forms are required by Friday 24th May at the latest to secure your place. The balancing payment will be in two instalments and required on Friday 21st June (£100) and Friday 19th July (£95). PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL HAY/HAYLAGE/SHAVINGS ARE INCLUDED. Please book via Horse Events Camp address: Stockland Lovell Manor, Coultings, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA5 1JJ Please note that all horses attending Stockland Lovell must have had a vaccination or booster within 12 months of the date of arrival which sees them to the end of their stay. Please also note Stockland Lovell have a “No dogs” policy. We hope you will all be as excited and enthusiastic about this year’s camp as we are and look forward to hearing from you. We look forward to seeing you and your pony at Camp for a great time! FROM YOUR COMMITTEE Parents, please read the next page with some more details. Dear Parents, Your involvement and support is essential! All food is included at Stockland Lovell so we will not require parents to provide meals, help with coffees, lunches and teas, however, we would really appreciate your help on Day 1 to set up stables with bedding and hay (all bedding and hay/haylage supplied by SL) and ensure your child’s and pony’s belongings are in the right place! You will also be needed to help clear up stables, cabins and all areas on the last day. One of the vital ingredients of a successful Camp is cake. Your children need it to survive and maintain their energy levels. Lots of home-made cake help the children to perform better and keep the instructors in good spirit! We would ask each family therefore to provide at least 1 cake per member during camp. All ponies will require concentrated feed during Camp (even if not normally fed at home) and please ensure your ponies are wormed, vaccinated and shod before Camp. It is not easy to get hold of a farrier at short notice. Horse boxes/trailers can be left at Stockland Lovell for the duration of Camp. Please be aware that as usual it’s “many hands make light work” at the end of camp so your involvement and help in clearing, tidying and cleaning everything on the last day is vital and very much appreciated. Our aim is to ensure the children have a wonderful time and this can only be achieved with everyone’s support and enthusiasm.
A kit list will be provided detailing the items your child will need to bring – please name/mark items for easy identification! Hopefully, this gives you an idea of what’s involved, however, if you require any further information or to chat anything through please call Lisa on 07891 217537. Many thanks, Lisa
