Pony Club Polo Training Rally open to those who have played polo before on their own or hired ponies.

Pony Club Polo Taster session open to all those who would like to come and try polo on their own pony or a hire pony. Session to include aspects of polo tack and bandaging and basic skills on a wooden horse or hand sticks, followed by putting it all into practise on horseback.

Open to all children aged between 6 and 21 (over 6 years old on 1st Jan). All ages very welcome!
Riders will be grouped according to age and ability.
Bring your own ‘fluffy’ PC pony (14,2hh or under) or schoolmaster polo ponies are available to hire.

Polo sticks and bandages can all be provided if necessary for those without. Please message organisers if such kit is required, to ensure we have enough. If possible, please bring a standing martingale if you are bringing your own pony.
Usual Pony club or riding attire. Players are allowed to (and do) wear jeans in polo. No hoodies (as sticks can get caught in them). Normal riding boots, or chaps and jodh boots or polo boots

The event is suitable for those new to polo, or who have had a few lessons already. The day is open to all members of the pony club (and lapsed or not yet pony club members), whether having previous polo experience or not.

For those wishing to come along and ‘have a go’, we can provide polo sticks, plus bandages and tape for ponies legs and tails!
Hire ponies are available.
Start time is likely to be 11am to allow for those travelling from further afield!
The day will consist of coaching by HPA/pony club instructors, both on and off the ponies, in similar ability groups, covering many aspects of polo including: riding, hitting the ball, rules & tactics, stable management, polo tack and feeding a pony for polo.
Please bring a packed lunch. Tea, coffee and cakes may be purchased on site.
Participants and their families are welcome to stay and watch any matches taking place that day (TBC).

Pony Club Polo is designed for any member to be able to play on only one pony. Any pony can play polo with enough training and all rounder PC ponies up to 14.2hh, play in sections especially dedicated to non polo ponies. Pony Club Polo is renowned for having provided the backbone to English polo with many England players having started their careers in Pony Club polo.
Liability: Save for the death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers, or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the organisers of this event or The Pony Club nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies, nor the landlord or his tenant, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever. Entries are only accepted on this basis.
Health and Safety: Organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the Health and Safety of everyone present.
