Due to High levels of entries to to the Spring Festival Qualifying Classes – we have had to cancel the Open Class 1 – 70cm to allow sufficient time to run the qualifying classes.  Full refunds for those entered to Class 1 will be processed.

Entry information

All entries in advance.  Please enter online at www.horseevents.co.uk Entry Fees: £20 per class + Horse Events Booking Fee. A levy of £5.00 will be charged to each competitor to help towards the cost of First Aid. All entries are subject to a non-refundable booking fee which will be stated online on a per class basis Entries will close on Tuesday 23rd January 2024 (or earlier if classes are full).

Times and numbers will be published on https://www.ponyclubresults.co.uk/ on Thursday 25th January 2024. All competitors should print off and bring their own numbers x3.  Two for your number bib and one which must be displayed on the windscreen in your vehicle.

Rosettes to 8th place in all classes.

Team information

Please indicate whether you are competing as part of a team or as an individual. There are no limitations on the number of teams clubs can enter. Team members can compete at different levels or all at the same level or a mixture of the two. A team must comprise of at least three members (but in a team of four one member may ride two horses).

Entry Conditions

1. Eligibility: a. PC80 ELIGIBILITY: a combination of horse/pony and rider are NOT eligible if they have: i. Previously represented their Branch/Centre at PC90 level or above in any Show  Jumping or Eventing Area Competitions or Championships. ii. Previously ever finished 1st to 3rd as an individual in the Show Jumping or Eventing  Regional Championships on two occasions. iii. A rider is NOT eligible if they have: Previously competed at the Spring Festival PC110  Grand Prix Championships; or iv. The Pony Club Show Jumping Final at Hickstead. b. PC90 ELIGIBILITY: a combination of horse/pony and rider are NOT eligible if they have: i. Completed a PC110 Area level or above competition in previous years. ii. Previously ever finished 1st to 3rd as an individual at the Pony Club Championships at  PC90 level or above on two occasions. c. PC100 ELIGIBILITY: a combination of horse/pony and rider are NOT eligible if they have: i. Previously ever finished 1st to 3rd as an individual at the Pony Club Championships at PC100 level or above on two occasions. d. PC110 GRAND PRIX ELIGIBILITY Riders CANNOT compete in the Open Grand Prix Area Competition if they have ridden in the PC80 Spring Festival Area Competition in the same year.   IMPORTANT INFORMATION a combination of horse/pony and rider can qualify for the Spring Festival Championships at consecutive levels, i.e., PC80 and PC90, PC90 and PC100 or PC100 and PC110, in the same year. Riders CANNOT compete at the PC80 Spring Festival Area Competition and the PC110 Grand Prix Area Competition in the same year. Riders can compete at the PC80 and PC100 or PC90 and PC110 Area Competitions and Championships on a different horse. 2. The Event will be run in accordance with The Pony Club Show Jumping 2023 Rulebook and classes 2,3,4 and 5 will also be judged in accordance with The Pony Club Spring Festival Show Jumping Rules, all of which are available on www.pcuk.org. 3. Area Competition Rules: a. Held in 16 Areas throughout the country any time before 4th February 2024. All members must attend their own Area Qualifier, no exemptions will be given. For each Championship class, competitors may qualify a maximum of three horses/ponies. b. NUMBERS TO QUALIFY – Only one team will qualify from the whole competition. PC80, PC90 & PC100 Qualification at Area Competitions will work on a ratio basis as below: Number of competitors starting the competition Number of competitors to qualify (plus any tying for these places) 0 – 50 7 51 – 60 8 61 – 70 9 And pro rata c. NUMBERS TO QUALIFY – PC110 GRAND PRIX: The first FOUR will qualify for the Championships from each Area Qualifier. If there are more  than 15 starters, then FIVE will qualify. (Any combination eliminated or retired in round one will  NOT qualify.) PASSING DOWN THE QUALIFICATION On the day – If a competitor is unable to go to the Championships, then the qualifying places will be passed down the line. Please ensure every competitor confirms to the organiser/steward that they are intending to enter the Championships. After the Area Qualifier – If a competitor is unable to go to the Championships, they must notify The Pony Club Office as soon as possible so that their qualifying place can be passed down the line. This will only be done up until five days prior to the Championships. 4. Teams: The team members can compete at different levels or all at the same level or a mixture of the two. A team must comprise of at least three members (but in a team of four one member may ride two horses) the top three scores will count for the team score. 5. Vaccinations – Pony Club rules on vaccinations will apply https://pcuk.org/media/eibpycgm/the-pony-club-vaccination-rule-v22-1-2.pdf. Random checks will be carried out. 6. The Judges and Organisers decision is final. 7. The Show organisers reserve the right to cancel any class with less than 3 entries and classes may be limited to 30 starters. 8. Class 5 – Area 8 Windsor qualifier – the first 6 Area 8 members will be invited to form the Area 8 team. 9. In all Pony Club Show Jumping, excessive use of the whip including repeated slapping down the shoulder is prohibited. The rules state that the whip may be used a maximum of three times during any round. Use of the whip will be monitored and excessive use may result in elimination at the discretion of the Judges. 10. The Pony Club Saddlery and Dress Rules apply to all classes. 11. No horses/ponies or haynets are to be left tied to the outside of a lorry / trailer. 12. All muck and hay must be cleared from the car park & warm up arena promptly. 13. Safety in the warmup arena will be monitored. 14. Substitutions Teams – the DC/Centre Proprietor may substitute rider(s) and/or horse(s) in the Team before entering. If a horse has to be substituted an alternative rider may be nominated. If a rider has to be substituted an alternative horse may be nominated. If a Branch/Centre has qualified more than one team, a substitution may be made from one team to another. If a team of three qualifies for the Championships, then a fourth team member may be entered at the Championships, as long as both the horse and rider are eligible and have completed the Area Competition. Individuals – A substitute horse may be entered but not a substitute rider. No substitutes shall be allowed after the Competition has started. 15. Withdrawals received after closing date will not be refunded. Withdrawals received on/before closing date will be refunded in full less a £5 administration fee. 19. Any objections must be handed to the Secretary in writing with a deposit of £20 within ½hr of the incident. In the event that the objection is not upheld, the deposit will be forfeited.

For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers and all the officials and stewards.

Legal Liability

Save for the death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers, or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the organisers of this event or The Pony Club nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies, nor the landlord or his tenant, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever.
