Open to members and non-members. All competitors and grooms must adhere to VHS Rules in all circumstances. Failure to do so may result in immediate disqualification.
VHS Regional Final qualification. All competitors placed 1st to 4th in each age category will qualify for the corresponding class at VHS Regional Finals. Members must carry their cards in the ring and have their showing card signed by the judge in the ring as proof of qualification. Non-members will receive a red qualification card which can be exchanged for signed showing card when applying for VHS membership. This MUST be done within 21 days of qualification. It is the competitors’ responsibility to present their Showing card to the judge.
Those wishing to join or renew with the Society will need to apply for this before 1st May each year or a late penalty fee of £15 will be charged.
Regional Finals are open to members only.
All competitors are eligible to enter open classes at the National Veteran Championships, to be held at Arena UK, Lincolnshire on 29th August – 31st August 2025. No qualification or membership necessary. See VHS website for schedule which is available mid-season 2025.

CLASS 1F VETERAN IN-HAND, COMBINED AGE CLASS (15 years and over). To be run as one class but judged as separate age categories: Diamond Veteran (25 years and over), Veteran (20–24 years) & Pre-Veteran (15–19 years). Open to horses and ponies of any breed and height.
CLASS 2F VETERAN RIDDEN, COMBINED AGE CLASS (15 years and over). To be run as one class but judged as separate age categories: Diamond Veteran (25 years and over), Veteran (20–24 years) & Pre-Veteran (15–19 years). Open to horses and ponies of any breed and height.
1.Under no circumstances must horses/ponies be left unattended unless securely boxed and must not be left tethered in the vicinity of the show ring or to the outside of vehicles.
2. Horses, ponies and riders age as of 1st January in the current year.
3. The Judge’s decision is final. Any confrontation with a judge is strictly forbidden.
4. Competitors and spectators must conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Any use of bad language or behaviour which may bring the club into disrepute will result in disciplinary action
. 5. CHILDREN MUST BE KEPT UNDER ADULT CONTROL.
6. No unauthorised person(s) are allowed in the ring at any time.
7. Points trophies will be awarded in each class to the competitor gaining most points over the same season with the same horse/pony/rider/handler combination. Points will only be awarded for the March. April, May, June, August & September shows. Competitors need to attend a minimum of TWO shows to be eligible for points awards.
8. All lead rein competitors must be led by an adult (16 years and over). The lead rein must be attached to the noseband NOT the bit.
9. All ridden horses & ponies competing must be 4 years old and over. All competitors must be of a suitable size and weight for the horse/pony they are riding. 10. All competitors must be correctly dressed whilst mounted, leading and in the ring. British Standard hard hats must be worn. Chin straps and jackets must be fastened correctly. Arms must be covered. Correct footwear must be worn. Body protectors may be worn.
11. All dogs must be on a lead and kept under control. PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER THEM.
12. NO RESPONSIBILITY IS ACCEPTED BY LODGE FARM FOR ANY ACCIDENT, INJURY OR LOSS OF PROPERTY REGARDLESS OF HOW THIS IS CAUSED.
13. LODGE FARM REQUIRE THAT ALL COMPETITORS MUST CARRY PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE WITH A MINIMUM OF THIRD-PARTY COVER.
14. Stallions must be handled by a person (14 Years and over for large breeds and 12 years and over for small breeds) and be correctly bitted. Riders of small breeds must be 12 years old and over. All stallions/colts must be correctly always bitted whilst on the showground. Riders of large breeds must be 14 years old and over.
15. Anyone attending the shows is asked to place litter in the bins provided or take it home. PLEASE…..poo-pick, there is equipment provided.
16. No spurs to be worn for riders aged 16 or below and in novice/beginners’ classes.
17. The miss use of spurs is an offence and if used (seniors) you must take care that the way they are used does not offend
18. Whips to be no longer than 75cm (30 inches)
19. No visible body piercings to be worn, if seen you will be asked to remove them.
20. Competitors need to attend a minimum of TWO shows to be eligible for points awards.
21. SHOW MEMBERS – It is you as a competitor that is the MEMBER – NOT YOUR HORSE/PONY.
