Congratulations on qualifying for the Dodson and Horrell National Pony Club Quiz Final at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club.

We will have an excitement packed day, with a Mini, Junior/Senior and a brand new Inter-Area Senior section!

Questions will be based on the Care and Riding sections of the E,D and easier parts of the D+ Efficiency Test cards and Mini Horsemanship Achievement badges. At the Final a number of questions will cover all of the D+ syllabus.

Junior/Senior Quiz Final

Teams must have two Junior members who are 13 years and under on the 1st January of the competition year and two members of any age up to 25 years on the 1st January of the competition year. Read More…

Questions will be based on the Care and Riding sections of the D+, C & C+ and easier parts of the B Efficiency Test cards, and achievement badges. At the Final a number of questions will cover advanced achievement badges and all of the B syllabus.

Inter-Area Senior Friendly

Senior Teams will consist of 3 or 4 members aged 25 and under on the 1st of January of the competition year. Read More…

Each Area can form up to 2 teams with direct entry into the National Quiz Final.

Members competing in the Junior/Senior Section are also eligible to compete in the Senior Section.

Questions will be based on the Care and Riding sections of the B, B+ and AH Efficiency test cards, and the Advanced Achievement Badges.
The rounds will be the same as the Junior/Senior Section.

Area Teams will need to be organised between the Area Representatives, and the Centre Area Coordinators. Entries should be made by Area Reps/Area Centre Coordinators ONLY.

Please be reminded that Area Teams must comprise of 3 or 4 members from 2 or more Branches/Centres. e.g. 4 Branches/Centres with one individual in the team each. 3 Branches/Centres with one, two and two individuals etc.

Refund, Withdrawals & Entry Changes

Withdrawal Date: 10/04/2024


If a Branch or Centre withdraws a team or individual prior to the closing date for a competition, a full refund of entry and stabling fees will be made, less an administration charge. Withdrawals after the closing date for a competition will not be refunded.

In the unfortunate situation of the event having to cancel 50% of your entry fee will be refunded, minus any Booking fees.

Additional Details

All entries should be made online using www.horse-events.co.uk. This is a single booking form process and entries will not be confirmed without payment. For Pony Club Quiz Finals entries you will need all your team membership number and Branch/Centre to enter. Catering will be available, with breakfast being served 8am-11am and lunch from 11:45-3pm (vegan and gluten free options available) – Please note these kiosks only take card and contactless, no cash.

Prizes & Prize Giving

At the National Quiz Final, all competitors who attend will receive a plaque and each section will receive rosettes 1st-10th place.

Qualifiers

The highest place Branch AND Centre will qualify for the National Final. Additionally, any area that has 10 or more teams competing in the whole section (Branch and Centre together) will receive an additional qualifying space for the National Final. Any area that has 15 or more teams competing in the whole section (Branch and Centre together) will receive two additional qualifying spaces for the National Final. If the highest placed Branch or Centre from the area is not in a qualifying space, they will also receive a qualifying space. After the highest placed Branch and Centre teams, additional qualifying spaces will be awarded based on the scores that were closest to the team placed 1st, regardless of Branch or Centre. Should space allow, further teams may be invited to the National Final at the Organiser’s discretion. ‘Extra invites’ will be invited to the National Final by consulting scores and inviting the team that were closest in percentage to their 1st placed team at their relevant Area.

Team information

Substitutions must be made before the start of the competition. One original Area Qualifying member must compete at the National Final, unless extenuating circumstances can be presented to the organiser through the quiz@pcuk.org email address up to the start of the competition. Each team can request up to three substitutions, where a replacement eligible member may be entered if an original member is not available to compete. All requests to substitute must be made to the organiser via the quiz@pcuk.org email address up to the start of the competition.

Dress

RECOMMENDED DRESS CODE ▶ Pony Club sweatshirt/polo shirt/jacket (shirt and tie not compulsory ▶ Comfortable trousers and footwear (no ripped jeans) HOODIES Hoodies at the final will included competitors name list on the back, all names who entered by 23:59 on 10th April will be included. Please ensure you put the correct spelling for competitor’s name. Hoodies are pre order via beewear. PLEASE ENTER EARLY AS POSSIBLE. https://beewear.co.uk/product-category/pony-club/quiz-2024/ Members will need to have ordered by 8pm 11th April in order to be able to collect their garment from us at the event, after this, orders will still be able to made online

Legal Liability

LEGAL LIABILITY Save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Organisers, or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the Organisers of any event to which these rules apply, nor the Pony Club, nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence, breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever.

Health & Safety

The Organisers of this Event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organisers and all the Officials and Stewards.

Event Directions & additonal details

Parking is limited please use public transport if you can or share transport where ever possible. The nearest train station is Sheffield Train Station, and there is a tram that can take you from the station on the yellow line to just a couple of minutes from the stadium. (Direction – Middlewood, Stop – Leppings Lane)

Terms and Conditions

·    Late entries may be accepted at the organiser’s discretion. Late Entry Surcharge £5

Photographic Rights – competitors and their parents/guardians have given permission for any photographic and/or film or TV footage taken of persons or horses/ponies taking part in Pony Club events to be used and published in any media whatsoever for editorial purposes, press information or advertising by or on behalf of the Pony Club and/or Official Sponsors of the Pony Club.

·    Each Team is required to provide a “helper” on the day to help run the quiz stations for their team section as this will help make the quiz final happen, Please put a helper name/details on the entry form.
