By entering the BHWC fun ride participants agree to the full extent permitted by law, to waive, release, and discharge BHWC, the organisers and/or landowners from any and all liability for death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft or actions of any kind which may hereafter accrue as a result of participating
Participants understand participation may be physically demanding and that there is risk of injury to self , horse/pony, including the potential for serious bodily injury, permanent disability, paralysis and loss of life. They acknowledge that such risks cannot be eliminated entirely and there are potential for risks and dangers that may not be obvious or reasonably foreseeable.
Participants are responsible for their own safety and, where practicable, the safety of others. 100% of liability for any medical or veterinary expenses incurred because of any injury to persons, horse/pony or property damaged during participation rests solely with the participant and all participants consent to receive any immediate medical treatment to themselves or veterinary treatment the their horse/ pony that may be deemed necessary in the event of injury, accident and/or illness whilst taking part.
By entering riders are agreeing to abide by the terms and conditions and any rules imposed by the Organisers and are responsible for ensuring that members of their party are aware of and adhere to these.
Subject to these terms, participants also accept full liability for the actions and safety of any persons who accompany them.
Participants must have appropriate and current public liability insurance cover. All riders must wear a hard hat to the current approved standard (correctly fastened) when mounted, appropriate clothing and have serviceable tack. It is highly advised that back protectors are worn, especially by those who choose to jump the optional fences.
The minimum age for horses and ponies is 4 years.
Riders must follow all directional and safety signage. Only marked routes may be followed.
A huge thank you to the landowners* who have allowed us to organise this ride.
There are long (approx. 12 mile) and short routes (approx. 4 miles) with optional jumps and photographers. Whilst the routes are mainly off road, there are small sections of road work along quite country roads and some road crossings ( again quiet roads) but the short router route of 4 miles does have a section of road (approx a mile) through a very quiet hamlet.
On the long route there is a small stream to cross ( but this can be avoided by following an alternative route along the road for a mile or so if required) plus there is a free refreshment stop mid route.
At the start you will find lots of parking for both lorries and trailers, the secretary (where you must check in and out), hot and cold refreshments, as well as toilet facilities and First Aid.
A Paramedic is on duty and Vets are on call. They will be deployed by the Organising Team as and when necessary.
Please note : When checking in at the start please, note the incident contact number which you should call if you have an accident or come across one – the organisers will respond appropriately and deploy help as necessary ( NB please ensure one of your group at least caries a mobile phone!)
In the interests of safely managing the number of riders on the course, please try to adhere to your start time. No riders will be permitted to start the course after the final closing time.
Participants must follow all directional and safety signage. Only marked routes may be followed. If you should wish to leave the route before the end ask a steward for the best route home – please do not self navigate or ride ‘against the flow’.
Please note : An adult must authorise for any rider under 18 years of age and remains responsible for their safety and actions at all times. Children aged 14-17 may complete the route on their own, provided that an adult authorises at the beginning and meets at the end of the course, and remains available to contact whilst the ride is underway. Children aged under 14 years of age must be escorted by an adult (aged 18 years or over) on a horse or leading on foot. If the escorting adult is unable to attend or complete the route, the children must also retire at this point.
All riders are expected to be in control of their horses at all times and ride safely with awareness of others. Whilst overtaking is permitted, please calmly alert those ahead of you of your intention and await an affirmative response before proceeding. Overtaking should only take place at a walk or trot.
Jumping : Only one horse at a time per fence, horses are NOT to jump abreast of each other. You must only jump the fences that are clearly marked. All jumps are optional. No more than 3 attempts are allowed at each jump. Any problems, injuries or damage which you, or your horse/pony suffer, or encounter during your use of the course must be reported to the Organising team without delay and before you leave.
Please note : You and your connections are requested to respect others privacy and avoid filming or publishing any footage of others including property in Tusmore Park.
Tricia Honour Photography will be taking pictures throughout the day for purchase after the event. By entering the fun ride you give the BHWC full permission to use any photos taken for promotional purposes. This might include e-newsletters, online and print advertising, circulation to the media and any other media we may choose to use in the future.
Please note we will hold your email and personal information securely and not divulge it to any 3rd party. It will only be used to pass on critical information or information concerning the ride.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
All riders are required to sign in at the start and out at the finish.
At the start riders should take note of the emergency contact number for the on site Organiser Team whom they should contact in the first instance if any incident or accident occurs, in order that the Organisers can deploy the appropriate response team.
- Medical. A paramedic will be employed by the BHWC and will be on site to administer first aid treatment as required.
- Whilst we do not stipulate the use of medical arm bands, however, we would advise bands are worn if a rider has specific medical details that the emergency services need to be aware of in the event of an accident and this may include any contact details.
- If you should have or witness a catastrophic accident call 999 first, remember they can get your exact location from your call, then call the event emergency number.
- Vets. VT Vets are on call for any horse related incident . All veterinary costs will be the liability of the rider or owner of the horse.
- An emergency contact number will be provided at the start and should be used if veterinary assistance is needed.
