I am very sorry to announce the Burley Ride on 12 May is CANCELLED. The bluebell wood, our main attraction, is too wet to access and is therefore unsafe. Your safety and happiness is very important to us which is why we’ve taken this difficult decision hopefully in time for you to make alternative plans.
As in the terms and conditions, we would normally charge an admin fee of £5 however due to the inconvenience we know that we have caused you, we have waived that fee and you will all automatically receive a full refund (less horse-events 40p refund fee). You do not need to do anything to receive your refund, it will be processed by horse-events.
I cannot tell you how disappointed we all are but we hope that you can understand our decision and still feel able to support us at our future rides in the coming months.

A ride of about 8-10 miles from Ashwell, Rutland over this stunning private estate with no public rights of way and through the incredible Burley Wood in BLUEBELL season – an ancient woodland overlooking Rutland Water. Shorter route. Photographer & refreshments.
All proceeds from this event go to the Air Ambulance & the Cottesmore.

Refund, Withdrawals & Entry Changes
Withdrawal Date: 30/11/-0001
No refunds at any time. Refunds are NOT AVAILABLE after booking. However, you can transfer your entry to a friend right up to the day of the event to get your own refund. I will help pass on details of sellers/buyers where I can in order to help you get your own refund. Any entries transferred are subject to the same terms and conditions as the person who originally booked.
This policy has been brought in purely due to the huge amount of extra work the old policy was producing and I do not have the capacity to continue.
In the unfortunate situation of the event having to cancel all entries will be refunded minus an admin fee of £0.40 per horse and rider combination (Booking fees are non refundable)

Entry information
A fun ride from Ashwell across to the stunning Burley estate in Rutland with no public rights of way, including through the incredible ancient woodland of Burley Wood during bluebell season. A Site of Special Scientific Interest, well known for its wealth of wild flowers and wildlife. The route will follow well marked tracks with wide, grass margins across the Burley Estate overlooking Rutland Water. There will be minimal, manned road crossings, the remainder of the route is on private land which is not normally open to the public so we are incredibly lucky to be invited. There will be plenty for the eye to savour on this private estate with lots of long grass gallops, farm tracks and the highlight, ancient private woodland that stands below Burley on the Hill, an impressive Palladian mansion. Shorter route available if required but please be aware that Burley Wood is the furthest point of the ride from parking.
The route will be marked, with stewards around the course and both a map and full parking instructions will be issued via email 36 hours or so before the event once entries close. Please remember you are riding on private land at the invitation of the landowners and as ever, take great care around any wildlife, wildflowers and crops/livestock. Please also ensure you clear up any droppings in the parking area.

Additional Details
• Times starting from first horses leaving at 9.30am, last horses depart at 1pm
• Booking closes Friday 10 May 2024 or earlier if the event is FULL.
• There are NO REFUNDS after entry, however you are welcome to sell on your tickets to get your own refund and I will help pass on details of sellers/buyers where I can.
• Cost: £25 Adults, Under 15s £15 – children must be accompanied by an adult for safety reasons
• Approximately 8-10 miles over this stunning private estate with no public rights of way and through the incredible Burley Wood in bluebell season – an ancient woodland overlooking Rutland Water.
• Shorter route will be available of approximately 4-5 miles but please be aware that Burley Wood is at the furthest point of our ride from parking.
• Refreshments and photographer. No dress code, dress for conditions and comfort.

Parking is on grass at Eastfield Farm, Cottesmore Road, Ashwell, near Oakham, Rutland LE15 7LJ. Please help us by following the instructions from the parking attendants.

Terms and Conditions
All those participating does so at their own risk, even if your entry has been transferred to someone else then you must make this very clear. The organisers cannot be held responsible for any accident, injury, damage, or theft for any reason whatsoever. There will be no medical or veterinary facilities on site other than those that can be summoned in an emergency.
Riders must wear a hard hat that complies with current British Safety Standards when mounted, have appropriate rider insurance and Body Protectors are recommended. Under 15s MUST be accompanied by an adult for safety reasons.
We do not have a dress code, dress for conditions and comfort.
