Bluebell Fun Ride on the Burley Estate

A fun ride across the stunning, private Burley estate in Rutland with no public rights of way, including through the incredible ancient woodland of Burley Wood during bluebell season, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, well known for its wealth of wild flowers and wildlife. The route will follow well marked tracks with wide, grass margins across the Burley Estate to the north of Rutland Water. There will be minimal road crossings and most of the route is on private land which is not normally open to the public so we are incredibly lucky to be invited. There will be plenty for the eye to savour on this private estate with lots of long grass gallops, farm tracks and the highlight, ancient private woodland that stands below Burley on the Hill an impressive Palladian mansion.

The route will be marked, with stewards around the course and both a map and full parking instructions will be issued via email 36 hours or so before the event once entries close.  This is a non-jumping fun ride.

Please remember you are riding on private land at the invitation of the landowners and as ever, take great care around any wildlife, wildflowers and crops/livestock. Please also ensure you clear up any droppings in the parking area.

• Times starting from first horses leaving at 9.00am, last horses depart at 1pm with just a max of 10 people in each half hour slot
• Booking closes Tuesday 13 May 2025 or earlier if the event is FULL. After Tuesday 13 May then late entries may be available if we are not full but with a surcharge of £5
• There are NO REFUNDS after entry, however you are welcome to sell on your tickets to get your own refund and I will help pass on details of sellers/buyers where I can.
• Cost: £25 Adults, Under 15s £15 and they MUST be accompanied by an adult for safety reasons
• Approximately 8 miles over this stunning private estate with no public rights of way and through the incredible Burley Wood in bluebell season – an ancient woodland overlooking Rutland Water.
• Shorter route will be available of approximately 4-5 miles.
• NEW parking this year, nearer Burley Wood so you don’t miss out but is very restricted. Parking attendants will be on hand to help in any way but please, if possible, share lifts. Thank you

Parking is restricted so parking attendants will be on hand to help in any way however please share transport if at all possible. For this reason, the ride is limited to a maximum of 10 adults in each half hour slot. Parking has been changed to be nearer the Wood and avoid any busy road crossings.
