Event Classes

The following classes are available for the OLD BERKSHIRE HUNT PONY CLUB JUNIOR NOVICE SHOW & DRESSAGE

Classes

Ring 1 

9.00am Showjumping: Entry fee £8.00

Class 1 Very Low Jumps: Leading Rein (leader may not pass pony’s shoulder)

Class 2 Very Low Jumps: Not led but may be assisted

Class 3 Approx 50 cm

*Class 4 Approx 60 cm

*Class 5 Approx 70 cm

Ring 2 

10.00am Family Showing: Entry Fee £5.00. Classes 7 – 8 may be led or assisted

Class 6 Cleanest Pony and Rider Combination (led or assisted)

Class 7 Best Pony Club Pony- This paragon of virtue must have the ability to happily turn its hoof to any PC activity that the child wants to try. May be required to jump a small fence and demonstrate some handy pony skills.

Class 8 Best Veteran over 18 years (any heights)

Class 9 Fancy Dress (1pm)

Class 10 Gymkhana – 1.30 pm (approx) Entry fee £6 for 4 classes – entry on the day only.
 Bending – Sections A B C
 Ride and Run – Sections A B C
 Sweet Dipping – Sections A B C
 Potato Race – Sections A B C

Section A – 9yrs & Under, led or assisted. Rider with disabilities 12 yrs & under are most
welcome.

Section B – 9yrs and under, unassisted.

Section C – 10-12yrs, unassisted.

Ring 3 

Working Hunter: CLEAR ROUND 9.30 – 10.30 am £2.00 entry on the gate.

Classes Entry Fee £8.00. Competitors may only enter either Class 11, 12 or 13. From 10.30 am.

Class 11 Tiny Working Hunter – lead rein or assisted

Class 12 Novice Working Hunter Pony: Jumps max 50 cm

Class 13 Open Working Hunter: Jumps max 60 cm

Followed by Working Hunter Championship – 1st and 2nd places from Classes 11-13 will qualify.

Ring 4 

10.00am Fun Show Classes: Entry Fee £5.00.

Class 14 – Most Handsome Gelding Ridden or In hand.

Class 15 – Prettiest Mare Ridden or In hand.

Class 16 – Best Mane and Tail (unplaited) Ridden or In hand.

Class 17 – First Rally Pony (led or assisted)- Pony needs to know its job, give the rider confidence, suitable for a first PC rally. A small obstacle course including bending poles, hopping off and on etc will be involved.

Class 18 – First Rally Pony (unled). Pony needs to know its job, give the rider confidence and behave even when rider errors occur – making it suitable for a first PC rally. A small obstacle course including the above plus a few more will be involved.

Ring 5

9am – 11am and after Class 20. CLEAR ROUND JUMPING: Entry fee at ring £3.00/round or £5.00/2 rounds.

Course to start with very low jumps and go up every 30 mins approximately. Both coloured & rustic fences.

Class 19 (11am) Pairs Jumping, approx 50 cm. Entry fee £10 per pair

Class 20 (approx 12:30) Run and Jump. Entry Fee £5.00- The rider must jump a small course on foot then mount their pony and jump course. Very small jumps. The quickest clear round wins.

Ring 6 

10.30 am Dressage: Entry fee £7.50. Must be pre-entered.

Class 21 The Pony Club Walk and Trot Dressage Test 2013 – 10 years and under

Class 22 The Pony Club Grassroots Dressage Test 2018 – 12 years and under

Ring Information

Ring 1 

Competitors may only enter two jumping classes in Ring 1. Classes 1, 2 and 3 will be judged on a
bogey time so only one round will be jumped (closest to the bogey time will win). Classes 4 and 5 will run as single phase classes – course in two parts with second part timed. Competitors to jump both parts unless eliminated. Faults to be accumulated.

Classes 4 and 5 are * Qualifiers for the PC Area 9 SJ Championships on Sunday 1st September 2018 at Rectory Farm, nr Cirencester. Details on the Area 9 website. Riders must achieve a double clear in order to qualify.

Ring 3 

Working Hunter: CLEAR ROUND 9.30 – 10.30 am £2.00 entry on the gate.

Competitors may only enter either Class 11, 12 or 13. From 10.30 am

An addition to previous years is the Working Hunter clear round. If time & stewards allow the
ring will remain open after the end of Class 13 for more clear rounds. A great opportunity to
practice over rustic fences on grass.

Ring 6 

Dressage- Run in accordance with Pony Club Dressage Rules. Please refer to www.pcuk.co.uk for clarification of rules.

Vaccinations

All horses/ponies must be vaccinated against equine influenza which complies with the conditions found here: http://www.pcuk.org/index.php/parents_information/rules_of_the_pony_club/

All horses/ponies must have their passports with them. Spot checks will be made.
