All dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times. Please clean up after your dog(s). Dogs MUST NOT be left tied up in the lorry park or left in cars.

Event Classes

The following classes are available for the North Farm Stud – HEROS ANNUAL SHOW 2019

Class 1
BEST TURNED OUT - RIDDEN OR IN HAND Horse / Pony / Handler any age
Judged on the combined turnout of horse and handler. Horses will be asked to walk only, no trotting or cantering in the ring.
Class 2
MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND - IN HAND
Any pure breed, registered or un-registered. Ponies any age.
Class 3
VETERAN - IN HAND
To be judged on soundness, condition, turn out and way of going. Open to horses or ponies 15 years and over - any height. Passport proof of age may be required.
CLASS 4
COLOURED / ODD-COLOURED - IN HAND
Open to piebald, skewbald, roan, spot and palamino horses and ponies of any height. To be judged on conformation, turn out and way of going. Any age.
Class 5
MINIATURE PONY - IN HAND
Open to any miniature pony not exceeding 87cm, any age
Class 6
LEAD REIN PONY (lead reins must be attached to the noseband)
NOT judged on conformation but on suitability as a genuine child’s pony. Riders 4 years and over and under 10, ponies 13hh and under. Any breed/ type. Plaited or un-plaited. SNAFFLE BITS ONLY. Rosettes to all.
Class 7
CHILD’S PONY - RIDDEN (for Ponies 4yo and over)
Riders 16 years and under, ponies 14.2hh and under. Any suitable bit. Will be expected to canter.
Class 8
MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND RIDDEN
Any age, pure breed, registered or un-registered. 4yo and over.
Class 9
VETERAN - RIDDEN
To be judged on soundness, condition, turn out and way of going. Open to horses and ponies 15 years and over. Passport proof of age may be required.
Class 10
COLOURED/ODD-COLOURED RIDDEN

Class 11

Open to TBs of any age re-homed by HEROS or North Farm Stud. To be judged on condition and turn out. Scars and blemishes to be disregarded

EX-RACEHORSE/TB BEST CONDITION - IN HAND
For TBs of any age. To be judged on condition and turn out.
Class 13
ROR OPEN IN HAND SHOWING QUALIFIER
RoR Elegibility: Horses must have Competition Membership and riders 15 years old on the 1st of January in the current year. For horses 3yrs and over, fillies, mares and geldings. Blemishes caused through racing will be ignored. This class is a qualifier for the RoR OPEN In Hand Showing Series Final. The first three go forward to the final at the RoR Goffs UK National Championships at Aintree in August 2019. Rosettes 1st - 6th. Prizes - 1st £30 plus RoR jacket, 2nd £20, 3rd £10, 4th £10.

BEST HEROS HORSE - RIDDEN
Open to TBs of any age re-homed by HEROS or North Farm Stud. To be judged on condition and way of going. Scars and blemishes to be disregarded.
Class 15
EX-RACEHORSE/TB - RIDDEN
For TBs of any age. To be judged on condition and way of going.
Class 16
ROR Amateur Ridden Showing Qualifier
Eligibility: horses must have Competition Membership and riders 15 years old on the 1st of January in the current year. For horses 4yrs and over, mares and geldings, owned, produced and ridden by an Amatuer. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, Pelham or simple double bridle with a plain cavesson noseband. Horses should be plaited. The Series is open to AMATEURS only – those employed in racing will be allowed to compete. Class will be judged under ‘riding horse’ format without ‘type’ being taken into consideration. Racing injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series This class is a qualifier for the RoR Amateur Ridden Show Series Final. The Judge will not ride at the qualifier but will ride in the final. The first three go forward to the final at the RoR Goffs UK National Championships at Aintree in August 2019. Rosettes 1st - 6th. Prizes - 1st £40 plus RoR jacket, 2nd £30, 3rd £20, 4th £10.
Class 17
RIDING CLUB EX-RACEHORSE/TB
For TBs of any age. To be ridden in a snaffle. Judged on way of going, manners and suitability as an all-round riding club horse. To include a small fence (approx. 80cm) in the individual show.
Class 18
VETERAN EX-RACEHORSE/TB - RIDDEN
For TBs aged 15 and over. To be judged on condition and way of going. Special award for the best veteran over 21 years of age.
Class 19
RIDING HUNTER HORSE
Open to horses 14.2hh and over. Will be required to do a freestyle show.
Class 20
RIDDEN HUNTER PONY
Open to ponies 14.1hh and under. Will be required to do a freestyle show.
Class 21
BEGINNERS WORKING HUNTER
Open to all. Rider any age. Horse/Pony not have won a Working Hunter class before 28th June 2019. Jumps no higher than 50cm. On or off the lead rein.
Class 22
NOVICE WORKING HUNTER PONY
Pony not to have won a Working Hunter before 28th June 2019. Registered or un-registered. Riders any age. Ponies any breed and 14.2hh and under. Jumps approx. 60cm.
Class 23
M&M WORKING HUNTER
Any age, pure breed, registered or un-registered. 4yo and over. Riders any age. Jumps approx. 70cm.
Class 24
NOVICE WORKING HUNTER
Horses over 14.2hh. Riders any age. Horse not to have won a Working Hunter class before 28th June 2019. Jumps approx. 70cm.
Class 25
EX-RACEHORSE/TB WORKING HUNTER
For TB of any age. Riders any age. Jumps approx. 70cm.
Class 26
OPEN WORKING HUNTER
Open to all. Riders any age. Jumps approx. 90cm.
Class 27

Ring 1 – In hand & Ridden Showing ( Grass Arena ) RIDDEN CHAMPIONSHIP (SASH TO WINNER – RESERVE ROSETTE) Championship Classes 1-5 & 6-8

Ring 2 – Thoroughbred Ring ( Grass Arena ) – CHAMPIONSHIP (SASH TO WINNER – RESERVE ROSETTE) OPEN TO 1ST AND 2ND FROM CLASSES 11-18

Ring 3 – Hunter Ring ( Grass Arena ) CHAMPIONSHIP (SASH TO WINNER – RESERVE ROSETTE) OPEN TO 1ST FROM CLASSES 19-26

Ring 4 – Dressage ( Grass Arean )

Ring 5 – Clear Round Jumping ( Grass Arena) Commencing 9am. – Height will start at 30cm and increase throughout the day. £2 per round. Entries at the ringside only – rosettes for every clear round.

Amateur definition

Amateur definition: an amateur is a person who for the purpose of RoR classes does not/has not during the current season or previous season: Engage(d) in breeding, livery, buying or selling, dealing or hiring horses (for the show ring) in a commercial capacity.

Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer’s/Trainer’s yard (in the current season or previous season). Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/ Trainer in the current or previous season.

Horses and riders must not have received any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a show in the current or previous season.

Horses must not have been ridden at a show by a rider who has ridden for a Professional/Producer Trainer in the current or previous season.

Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes.

North Farm Stud is owned and managed by the Muir family whose experience with Thoroughbred horses spans three generations. The Stud specialises in first class care, tailored to the individual needs of each horse, whether for convalescent nursing care and rehabilitation, livery, broodmare boarding and foaling, sales preparation or breaking and pre-training regimes.

We have an outstanding reputation in all areas of horse management. NFS is a ‘Highly Commended’ BHS approved livery yard.
