Burghley Pony Club welcomes all Pony Club and Pony Club Centre members.


All competitors must read and comply with latest instructions from the Government and the Pony Club.

This is a fun and friendly event aimed at younger and novice children. Refreshments will be available.

Event Classes

The following classes are available for the Burghley Branch of the Pony Club Novice Show


Entries & Entry Fees

Due to covid restrictions, unfortunately entries do need to be in advance

Entry Fees £5 per class.

All entries are subject to a non refundable booking fee £1

Class Information


Starts at 9.30am



CLASS 2 – PONY CLUB PONY – 10 and Under


CLASS 4 – RIDDEN VETERAN – Ponies 20 years and above

CLASS 5 – FANCY DRESS – For the Lusso Developments Ltd. Trophy.


Competitors may only enter ONE Pony Club Pony class.



Starts at 10am

Competitors may only enter one Working Hunter Pony Class.  All ponies in

Working Hunter Classes must be plaited except for Natives.


CLASS 6 – OPEN WORKING HUNTER – Fences 65cm max.

CLASS 7 – NOVICE WORKING HUNTER – Fences 50cm max.

CLASS 8 – INTRO WORKING HUNTER – Lead Rein/ accompanied. Fences 35cm max.



Open to 1st and 2nd placed ponies in classes 6-8.



Start – Afternoon

The rider jumps round the first part of the course, dismounts and hands the pony to a helper and then finishes the course leading their dog.


CLASS 9 –   HORSE & HOUND – 8 years and under – 35cm (LR/accompanied permitted)

CLASS 10 – HORSE & HOUND – 9 years and above – 50cm


RING 3 – SHOWJUMPING (one phase only)

Starts 10.30am

All classes are one phase – competitors jump one course of jumps and the second half of the course will be timed.


CLASS  11 – 35cm Lead Rein

CLASS 12 – 35cm Accompanied

CLASS 13 – 45cm

CLASS 14 – 60cm

CLASS 15 – 70cm



Riders can take part at any time before 1pm– classes running simultaneously.


CLASS 16 – Lead Rein

CLASS 17 – 8 years and under (may be accompanied)

CLASS 18 – 9 years and over.

These classes will include a number of obstacles and a small jump and are against the clock!



Start- 9am

£2 entry on the gate – max height of fences adjusted throughout the day Inline with classes running In the SJ arena.




Start – Afternoon

CLASS 19 – Lead Rein (must be led by a headcollar under the bridle)

CLASS 20 – Non Lead Rein

Each Group to take part in 5 games – Bending, Mug Shuffle, Sock Race, Flag Race, Ride and Run.

1st-6th place in all classes, plus lots of specials.

Dress Code


Dress Code

All competitors must wear jodhpur / riding boots.  Stirrups should be of the correct size to suit the rider’s boots and must have 7mm (¼”) clearance on either side of the boot.

Withdrawals & Substitutions


Before close of entries, on Wednesday 2nd June. You can cancel your entry via your www.horse-events.co.uk account yourself, and your entry fee will be refunded.

If the withdrawal is between the closing date and when times are issued, 50% will be refunded. After this no refund will be given. If you are unable to attend after times have been issued please notify the organiser at hannahhoyles@aol.co.uk


For Track and Trace purposes – no changes can be made after class times have been published on 4th June 2021.

Vaccinations & Passports

Under current pony club guidelines all horses and ponies must have been immunised against equine influenza. Once the initial course has been completed, your pony must have had a booster within the last 12 months. Please see the following link to the Pony Club website which states the full pony club policy. https://pcuk.org/search-the-pony-club/?q=vaccination+rule  Please have your pony’s passport with you, spot checks may be carried out.

Conditions of Entry


  1. To be run under Pony Club COVID Guidelines (see PC website.)
  2. Open to Pony Club Branch and Centre members only.
  3. Rider’s ages as of 1st January 2021.
  4. Open to current Pony Club Branch and Centre members only. All ponies must be aged 5 or older.
  5. No pony may be ridden by more than one person in any one class.
  6. For reasons of safety, no cantering other than in warm up areas and competition rings.
  7. All competitors must wear a protective helmet, manufactured to one of the minimum standards listed in the Pony Club Hat Rule 2021 at all times when mounted with the chin straps fastened. All hats must be tagged with an Aqua Pony Club, Riding Club or BE hat tag. This can be done on the day by the event secretary, please allow enough time for this.
  8. The decision of the judge is final.
  9. The organisers reserve the right to disqualify anyone for misuse of whip or spurs, dangerous riding or any horse or pony in poor or lame condition.
  10. Horses/Ponies must not be left unattended, especially never left unsupervised tied to the outside of lorries. Please pick up droppings in lorry park. Only the competitor may ride the horse on the day at the event.

This event is being organised by The Bughley Pony Club . Equine Bookings is acting as the booking agent for this event, enabling you to book online, for which you will be charged a booking fee per space which will be added to your cart.

As booking agents, we accept no responsibility for the actual provision of any event for which you purchase event tickets for. Our responsibilities are limited to providing the online platform to enable you to purchase tickets. The booking fee is the separate non-refundable charge we make to you for facilitating the booking. Your contract is held with the Promoter/event organiser.

We only share your data with that of the third party organiser of the specific event you entered. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. The Organisers of the events published on the Horse Events website have all agreed to the following statement before we published the event and give them access to your data for the purpose of entering their event.
