Event Classes

The following classes are available for the The Beaufort Hunt Supporters Club Team Chase

Class 1
NOVICE TEAM CHASE (BOGEY)

Prizes: 1st £120, 2nd £100, 3rd £80 Rosettes to 10th place

Fixed fences will be approx. 2'9" and the course will be approx. one and a half miles.  Teams may be of three or four horses/ponies.  The time of the third horse/pony over the finish will be the time for the team.  The team finishing in a time nearest to the bogey time, judged at a fair hunting pace, will be the winner. Horses/ponies must be 13.2 hh or over and must be 5 years old or over.  Riders must have attained their 12th birthday.

Special Prize: The Gerald Gundry Family Stakes Perpetual Challenge Trophy will be presented to the highest placed Beaufort Hunt Pony Club team

Class 2
INTERMEDIATE TEAM CHASE – (BOGEY)

Prizes: 1st £140, 2nd £120, 3rd £100 Rosettes to 10th place

Fixed fences will be approx. 3'3" and the course will be approx. two miles.  Teams may be of three or four horses.  The time of the third horse over the finish will be the time for the team.  The team finishing in a time nearest the bogey time, judged to be a fair hunting pace will be the winner.  Horses must be 14.2 hh or over and must be 5 years old or over.  Riders must have attained their 16th birthday.

Special Prize: The Harry Sidebottom Cup will be presented to the highest placed Beaufort Hunt team consisting of a minimum of 3 hunt members

Class 3
INTERMEDIATE TEAM CHASE – (SPEED)

Prizes: 1st £140, 2nd £120, 3rd £100 Rosettes to 10th place

Fixed fences will be approx. 3'3" and the course will be approx. two miles.  Teams may be of three or four horses.  The time of the third horse over the finish will be the time for the team.  The team finishing with the fastest time wins.  Horses must be 14.2 hh or over and must be 5 years old or over.  Riders must have attained their 16th birthday.

 

Special Prize: The Derek Sidebottom Cup will be presented to the highest placed Beaufort Hunt team consisting of a minimum of 3 hunt members

Class 4
PAIRS HUNTER TRIAL

Pair closest to bogey time wins

Prizes: 1st £60, 2nd £40, 3rd £30 Rosettes to 10th place

Fixed fences will be approx. 2'9" and the course will be approx. one and a half miles. The time of the second horse over the end of the timed section will be the time for the pair. Horses/ponies must be 13.2 hh or over and must be 5 years old or over.  Riders must have attained their 12th birthday

Special Prize: The Sturley Shield will be presented to the highest placed Beaufort Hunt Pony Club pair

Entries

All entries where possible to be made online at www.horse-events.co.uk Entries can only be submitted with the correct Entry Fee and correct Entry Form

Entries close when full or on the 12th March at Midnight. (All entries include a non-refundable booking fee per class online)

Withdrawals: no refunds will be given after the closing date for whatever reason

Postal Entries: will be accepted using the correct entry form attached to this schedule however PLEASE NOTE entries via horse-events.co.uk is the preferred method

Start Times & Course Walking

Start Times: Start times will be available from 4.00pm on Thursday 15th March via horse-events.co.uk

Course Walking: The course will be open to inspection from 2.00 pm on Saturday, 17th March

Additional Information

  • A deposit of £10/ pair and £10/ team for number bibs. NO exceptions!
  • There will be a Licensed bar and food & Trade stands on site
  • Dogs must be kept on a lead at ALL times – no exceptions
  • Small children should remain under the care and be the responsibility of their parents at ALL times
  • Watch out for horses at ALL times
  • Veterinary surgeons, Farrier and a Horse Ambulance will be on site during the competition. Competitors will be required to pay for any services received.
  • Please DO NOT empty your horesboxes/ of muck/shavings/etc – if you are caught there will be fine to be paid to Wiltshire air ambulance
  • Cars £5 on gate (Lorries and trailers will be admitted free of charge)

Rules

This Hunter Trial & Team Chase are held under the auspices of the MFHA Governing Body and in accordance with MFHA (17th October 2016) Team Chasing Rules. The making of an entry constitutes acceptance of those rules. Full rules at: www.teamchasing.co.uk

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY: The Organiser does not accept liability in respect of any accident, illness or disease caused to or suffered by any horse, owner, rider, groom, spectator, sponsor or any other persons or property present at the site of the Event and their property and accoutrements. All cars, horseboxes and trailers are parked at owners risk. Cars to be parked in the designated areas.

RESERVATION OF RIGHT: The Organiser reserves the right to

  1. Cancel or divide any class
  2. Withhold any prizes because of insufficient declared entries
  3. Eliminate any competitor not adhering to the rules
  4. Transfer competitors between sections of a class
  5. Alter the advertised times
  6. Refuse any entry

HEALTH & SAFETY STATEMENT:  The Organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of every person present.  For these measures to be effective, everyone must take reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organiser, officials and stewards.

The Organiser advises that, due to uneven and, in parts, irregular terrain at this event, it may be difficult at times for spectators to move around freely and easily, as a result of which it may not be suitable for these spectators who suffer from certain medical conditions.  All the spectators enter the event at their own risk and are advised to wear suitable footwear.  The Organiser shall not incur any liability, except as required by law, in respect of any injury or damage to any spectators howsoever sustained.  Please take especial care to ensure the safety of children.

For safety reasons no motorised vehicles including ATVs are permitted on the course other than officials and their vehicles.  Visitors with mobility restrictions who would otherwise use motorised vehicles should contact the secretary’s office for information and assistance.

In all classes competitors must wear a crash helmet which meets one of the following standards: British A11 PAS15, BSEN1384 or European EN1384 provided they are BSI Kitemarked or SEI.  All competitors must also wear a British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) approved and appropriately labelled Level 3 body protector manufactured in the year 2000 or after.

ALL HATS MUST BE TAGGED WITH THE PINK TEAM CHASING TAG. PLEASE BRING YOUR HAT TO THE SECRETARIES TENT WHO WILL TAG IT FOR £2 PROVIDING IT IS OF THE REQUIRED STANDARD. HATS WILL BE CHECKED IN THE COLLECTING RING AND IF NOT TAGGED COMPETITORS WILL BE UNABLE TO START. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK YOUR EQUIPMENT (HATS AND BACK PROTECTORS) IS UP TO THE CORRECT AND REQUIRED STANDARD
